I'm frustrated...

I'm doing loads of marketing, but it's just not working...

Do you feel like you've taken on loads of marketing ideas and advice over the years, but you just can't get it all to work in the way people say it should? We see this all the time. So, firstly take comfort that you are not alone.  There are a few reasons why this happens:

  • No next step: The most common reason that marketing fails is that there isn't a complete customer journey. So, you end up running (expensive) taps into a leaking Bucket. The way to fix this is to map out your end-to-end customer journey, and only turn the taps on when you have the next steps in place. See: The marketing task at every step of a sale >
  • Not hanging out in the right places: The marketing tools you choose need to be right for the people you want to attract. If your ideal customers hang out on Facebook, you need to be on Faceboook. We often see people swayed by current fads (or persuasive 'marketing gurus') to try something that would never work for their audience. An example would be a highly complex business-to-business proposition, say multi-million pound tech, retargetted social ads, or Facebook Lives will never work for that audience. But, for reaching creative freelancers, it might be just the thing. You can only make confident choices about the marketing tools you use when you can see the world through the eyes of your ideal buyers.
